Days after championship´s end, let's recall what happened. You can value the participants, just like we do.
PSG (1st) Just like their first participation in 2005 (eliminated in the final round by Valencia CF and ninth in the final classification) their were cold at the beginning, losing the first match 3-1 against Sevilla FC. Soon PSG kept clear that this team was far better than previous one and they could fight for the title. As matches rolled by, their performance was greater. They finished adapting to the competition pace and marking differences through the two best players in the championship, Ongenda and Sanali. Also included supplements as good as Kimpenbe or Coman. Fair winners. INTER (2nd) In their third participation (7 th and 8 th in 2005 and 2006), they werw focused in winning the championship. Always competitive, improved their performance and disputed the title until the end because they had better players than other years (Mira, Vecchia, Crippa, Romano ...) and because with the same coach just knew the intricacies of the tournament. Inter handled the like no other physical intensity , for example by sacrificing a spot on the group to be cooler at junctions. In attack was a team better than its predecessors, adapting his game to the characteristics of their best players up risking more in defence.
RCD Espanyol (3rd) Another classic that covered expectations (formerly 6th and 3rd). A compact and orderly team with a gun in the front very difficult to stop, Jafar, author of 8 goals. Although if anyone was important in this team was Marc Gelma, the small number 10 who handled the entire midfield. They fought with PSG for a spot in the final, which was not within the reach of everyone. His third place is meritorious, lost only two matches, two against PSG (2-0 in the group and 3-2 in the semi-finals).
CA Osasuna (4th) The big surprise among the top finishers. Their best previous performance was 12th position last year. Hard to predict when they ended their group with a victory and three defeats. They hardly reached the semi-finals after lucky win over RC Celta (1-0 in eighths) and pass through penalty in the quarter-finals. A good goalkeeper, much order and good luck. Binke Diabate, December 1995 was the most striking player, provided quality and speed in attack.
Sevilla FC (5th) They were first in their group (the most difficult) without defeat and 10 points. His round match against Arosa (7-0) was the most unequal of Saturday afternoon. The Arosa resisted only half time. Nothing to do with the decisive quarterfinal game on Sunday morning against Inter, for many an early end to be decided by penalty after the Italians tie in the last minute of the match. 9 players scored at least one goal, with Jose David with a maximum 5, an example of how well they functioned as a group and how difficult it were as a rival. It was the only team that won the PSG (3-1). Bad luck for a team that always creates great impression on Arousa Football 7 and that leaves the tournament without losing a match.
Atlético de Madrid (6th) Club that tied its best performance in its seventh appearance in Arousa Football 7 (his previous top was sixth place in 1999). Team with a clear plan: the ball to the opponent. Alejandro (9) and Isaac (11) were danger dangerous players playing counterattack. In the midfield highlighted Alberto Villapalos, good player who represented his team: compact and competitive. They lost 1-2 in eighths to accumulate two defeats against the two French teams.
Valencia CF (7th) Outside of the top four places for the first time since 2004, when Erik Lamela and Co. won the final for Argentina with River Plate, the first title of a club abroad. It was expected much more of a major Arousa Fútbol 7 club. There were interesting players in the middle like Raul Julia and Ignacio Gil, a small player brimming with energy that improved throughout the game that he was coming. Their problem was their scorer effort, with only 5 goals, fact that condemned them in top 16 round against Osasuna, a team that won by size.
Olympique Marseille (8th) First participation. They started badly and finished better than nobody could expect, discussing a place in semifinals with RCD Espanyol in the quarterfinal match after starring in the big surprise of the championship: they eliminated Villarreal by penalty. OM ended the group at 4th place, with two wins and two loss. They had the best tournament goalkeeper: Florent Maddaloni. Very solid team with its best field player in number 5, Gael Andonian, a very strong midfielder that balanced the team. On the other hand they had its worst version in attack, 3 goals throughout the championship ...
Very good tournament by the 1997 champion. They shined in its group with 12 points and +10 goals, unbeaten. They won Real Madrid (4-0) and taught everyone how to counteract the Ajax passing game (1-0). A team that was much comfortable without the ball, with good players like Anton Iglesias, Tomas Abelleira or Borja Fernandez, reinforced with players from April Qualification Stage like Jordan. It had pretty bad luck at its junction, because after being paired with one of the worst "quarters", Osasuna, were immersed in a very uncomfortable match after the lone goal of Osauna in the last minute of the first half they never overcome. The second time was a futile effort trying to turn things around . Good championship by one of the revelations of this year. With Villarreal was one of the teams with more bad luck, penalized with the elimination after 12 bad minutes throughout all the championship.
Villarreal CF (10th) First participation and pleasant feelings from this club. The team along with RC Celta who had worse luck. Group development: four wins and no goals received. Then came Olympique and stole the show winning key match by penalty. Bad luck. Carlos Joel Melgarejo was among the best players in the championship, a forward with quality and strength on a team that played hard and well, but lost the first key game. These things do not happen the first time involved by chance.
AFC Ajax (11th) Light Ajax version. Perhaps the worst Ajax team that has played in Villagarcía for the past five years and consequently its worst ranking. It is symptomatic that a club that always leaves names for the memory in their AF7 appearance , regardless of classification (until this year it was always good), now leave us alone and isolated flashes. Good individual technique, attack style and positive attitude always but nothing more. Ajax made their classic passing game but couldn´t hurt any high level defensive line. Using one on one actions without collective solutions, rather than move the ball from side to side of their attack, they had big difficulties against ordered and powerful counterattack style teams. We enjoyed Jovi Hulshoff, brave midfielder or center back, with command ability and able to play Ajax style. Everyone would wish Jovi for his team.
Selección AF7 (12th) They started closed in their own goal area, with more fear than anything alse against Atletico Madrid. So they paid it with defeat. From this point AF7 group shacked things up and made a great championship, taking even the misfortune of crossing key match against Inter, which also had reserved people in the previous game. There were no option against Inter, cursing absence crossed with Valencia, more affordable. It was a good group of players, which means for organiaztion members many hours of work, which was rewarded with a good job, much better than last year's, data that someone continues to repeat even these hours. Shame on defeat against Inter, seeing the delegate team suit dressed (his promise) would have been insurmountable. From outside players who we liked most were midfielder Sergio and forward Juanma . Good game, and no complex for a team that represents an idea that nobody has even copied. Until now ...
URECA (13th) Always al good level. Classified from theQualifying Stage for the second year, they demonstrated how to work their base. This year with the EFB Moañesa were the best team representative of the Q S. In the group treated with comfort and were at the junction. Bad luck with Valencia CF in last 16 key game(1-0), Ureca had possession an opportunities. Without their best player throughout the tournament at this crucial moment, ankle injured : Ferrán Ferreiroa.
Real Madrid (14th) Weak. That´s the word. The worst Real Madrid we remember. Far away from recent Real Madrid teams that usually shined in the championsip. Dull team without any attraction from the first match. Mammered by RC Celta (4-0) and eliminated by the PSG (4-1) that made a kids game with them. As curiosity, the uproar that was mounted around Enzo Zidane, whose gestures reminiscent of father, but barely played significant minutes. Moreover Enzo was not among the 50 best players in the tournament.
SAD Ciudad de Santiago (15th)
Arosa SC (16th) Arosa was supported by a noisy crowd from the stands along 3 days. From the beginning it was clear that key group game was against EFL Calvo Sanz. Arosa defeated EFL so they advanced to their 7-0 loss in best 16 round. They struggled 7-0 against Sevilla after made a decent performance.
Pabellón CF (17th) Classified directly to the final stage after three previous and consecutive Q. S. titles. They were unable to win the key game match against Ciudad, so were relegated to the last place in the group. Team compact as ever. We expected more from them.
RC Deportivo (18th) They were awful one more time. Nothing to offer, inferior than teams of their group one by one. 0 goals in favor.... Between EFL and Arosa and the pass discussion in their group, as other group teams level was unattainable. They were the worst team from Q.S.
EFB Moañesa (20th) They were the best team coming from the Q. S.and they were playing the most screwed group. Their -20 in the goal differential did´t make justice to a team that showed its potential in April. They had no choice because they found fantastic teams in this weekend. In any other group Moañesa could have been graded, as it is a team far better than Depor, Arosa and company. Abraham, Q. S. star, did not play at his level this time. A good team. |
